These events are sanctioned by Fédération Internationale de L'Automobile (FIA) through the RACJ affiliation to the FIA. The events include the much-acclaimed Jordan Rally Middle East Championship, and the Al-Hussein International Rumman Hill Climb, National Rallies, Hill Climbs, Karting Challenges, Speed Tests, Rally Tours, 4X4 Adventure Rallies. The FIA is the voice of the motorist and committed to motoring in its widest sense.

There are four national rallies organised annually in addition to the Jordan Rally, the leading round of the FIA’s Middle East Championship since 1982. Participation has increased over the years. The late King Hussein established rallying in Jordan. The first rally, held in 1961, was a scavenger hunt and the following year the rally ended with a picnic in the Jordan Valley. This led to the organization of proper rallies, which also succeeded in raising interest in other motor sport events.

Jordan’s Al Hussein Rumman Hill Climb is one of the Middle East’s longest standing sporting events and has become a highlight on the Kingdom’s social and sporting calendar. The first Hill Climb was held near the historical town of Jarash in 1962, after which His late Majesty King Hussein began a project to improve the route. A few years following its launch, the current site of Al Rumman was used and is now earmarked for a development programme that will transform this stunning location into a prime tourist spot. King Hussein held the course record until as recent as 2001.

With the rallying scene booming, speed tests were introduced to the motor sport calendar in 1964 and have been held at various locations throughout Jordan since. Most recently they have been held at a variety of locations including the Royal Automobile Club of Jordan and in the southern city of Aqaba.

Five speed tests are scheduled annually with points counting towards the Jordan Open National Speed Test Championship. The sport’s popularity continues to grow with the final event of each season attracting over 80 competitors from across the Kingdom and a crowd in excess of 10,000 spectators lining the streets of Aqaba to get close up to the high speed thrills.

It was with great honor and pride that Jordan hosted a hugely successful first FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) in 2008 followed by another two events in 2010 and 2011 .It was an occasion that had been 50 years in the making and the overwhelming positive feedback that was received proved that Jordan is capable of organising international events to the high standards set by the FIA.

The Jordan Rally is already offering a unique concept to the FIA WRC with a majority of its special stages running below sea level and its headquarters and service park centered on the banks of the Dead Sea. Biblical and tourist attractions are aplenty, presenting rally fans with a unique blend of serious rally action coupled with the world’s best tourist attractions. The April time slot will also provide guaranteed sunshine and a comfortable climate.

Running alongside the big WRC event, the region’s best drivers will join local crews in tackling some of the same routes that will be used by the world’s leading names. The Middle East Rally Championship Jordan event was held twice in tandem with the WRC event in 2010 and 2011 and it provides our Arab drivers with the chance to rub shoulders with the world’s best.

Before reaching the dizzy heights of the FIA World Rally Championship or Formula One, most of the world’s leading drivers have learned their trade in Karting. The RACJ track is always busy on Fridays and weekdays afternoons with young promising drivers enjoying their karts and preparing themselves for the Jordan Open Karting Championship.

For more information you can visit:

www.Jordan-motorsport.com
www.jordanrally.com

Jordan Motorsport Officials Safety Training

The Royal Automobile Club of Jordan and Jordan Motor Sport were fortunate to receive a grant from the FIA Motor Sport Safety Development Fund as part of the Officials Safety Training Program. A major safety seminar was conducted at RACJ from June 6th - 10th and offered a variety of training programmes.

The FIA Motor Sport Safety Development Fund was set up in 2008 as a charitable fund to help enhance and improve safety, training and education in motor sport worldwide.

The FIA Institute manages the programmes of the Fund on behalf of the FIA Foundation. The aim is to be able to help increase the level of safety for all those who participate in the sport, whether as competitors, officials or spectators. The training was conducted by The Motor Sport Association (MSA) being a Regional Training Provider of the FIA Institute’s Officials Safety Training Programme.

Later in the year MSA trainers would return to complete train the trainer Programme (TTP) were 12 participants will receive train the trainer certificate so they will be able to train new and old volunteers.

Train the Trainer program (3rd to 5th October 2013)

To complete the officials safety training programme, nine Jordan Motorsport volunteers attended train the trainer programme. F1 in schools is the largest, and most successful, educational initiative in the world, with such countries operating the programme as, Kenya, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Vietnam and many more. The power of Formula 1 and the challenge of designing, building, testing, and racing a miniature F1 car of the future has reached more than 20 million students, with one million students involved yearly from over 20,000 schools.

F1 in schools challenges students to create their own Formula One team which is commissioned to design, construct and race the fastest miniature Formula One Car of the Future...a 21cm long scale model built from a block of balsa wood and powered by a compressed air cylinder. Each team of between three and six students creates a ‘pit’ display and showcases its work in developing its racing car, with a verbal and written presentation for the judges. The teams then race their model car on a specially designed 20-meter test track, with the cars covering the distance in just over one second.

Each of the national champions is invited to compete at the World Finals and the 2nd and 3rd place teams are invited to participate by forming collaboration teams, linking with the runner-up teams from another country. The collaboration teams communicate by virtual technologies such as CISCO WebEx before finally meeting each other for the first time when they arrive at the World Finals.

The finals are held over the course of three days with the teams brought together for the biggest challenge of their young life.

On the national level, The Jubilee Center in Jordan initiated the F1 in schools programme and their team won the local championship in 2012 when it was honored by the FIA Women in MotorSport Committee as the outstanding team comprising three females and one male.

As a tribute to the team, the Royal Automobile Club of Jordan held a press conference on the 9 th February 2013. Local media and potential sponsors such as car dealers and other companies were invited to meet and talk with the team to advertise the competition and bring in more schools and sponsors for the teams.

For more information you can visit: www.f1inschools.com
 Photogallery

<div

SAFEisFast.com

SAFEisFast.com -- exists right now.
